Visitors to Cody Park are seeing spots thanks to a new addition. A new red and white speckled llama was brought in as a replacement mom for the baby llama whose mother died earlier this month. The baby is only about three months old.
“We think the death might have been heat or age related,” said parks supervisor Lyle Minshull. “Some of our workers had seen her that morning, and she seemed to be doing fine. Later in the day, we got a call from some park visitors who had seen her lying in the pond. We rushed over there immediately, but she was dead.”
The baby and father were moved to another pen with more shade. Minshull said the vet checked the mom to see how much milk she was
