Fashion Show | Win Big On Oswego Senior Center’s Casino Trip

Try your luck at a casino, travel to Springfield and learn about President Lincoln, get a flu shot, attend a fashion show, and volunteer to drive needy seniors to medical appointments. There is always something for seniors to do in the Fox Valley.

Attention gamers! The Oswego Senior Center is headed to Diamond Jo Casino in Dubuque, Iowa, on Oct. 25, and all seniors are invited.
“The trip is going to be a lot of fun,” said Lorraine Schleitwiler, activity director for the center. “Come along even if you don’t play poker or blackjack ” you can play slots, meet new people and enjoy a nice day out.”
The trip costs $32 per person and includes lunch, motor coach transportation, gratuity for the bus driver and $10 for gambling.
“The bus will pick people up at the senior center (156 E. Washington St., Oswego) around 8:45 a.m. and drop them back off at around 6 p.m.,” said Schleitwiler.

Travel
The Fox Valley Park District will go to the Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield on Sept. 30, and all seniors are invited.
The cost is $90 per person and will include lunch, motor coach transportation, and tour of the capital and museum.

Shop
The Oswego Senior Center will hold a fashion show from noon to 3 p.m. on Oct. 12.
Festivities will start with a lunch. After the meal, a fashion show will begin, showcasing the styles of TaylorMarie’s, a company that travels to senior centers with the latest fashions.
After the show, seniors will have the opportunity to shop for clothes on display.
The event costs $8 per person, which includes lunch. Door prizes will be offered and music will accompany the event.

Volunteer
Calling all volunteers! Senior Services and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of McHenry and Kane Counties are in need of driver volunteers. The programs are looking for volunteers to provide transportation for seniors in need of attending medical appointments.
The programs will match volunteers to senior clients and work with all schedule restraints. They are looking for as few as a couple hours per week.
