Saturday: The West Tennessee Iris Society holds its 25th Annual Iris Rhizome Sale: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Pickering Center (next to Charity Horse Show Arena), 7771 Poplar Pike, Germantown. More than 150 named tall bearded varieties for sale. Small selection of Louisiana species and Siberian varieties and inexpensive unnamed rhizome collections also for sale. Club members on hand to answer questions about growing the iris, Tennessee’s state flower.
Saturdays through October: Farmers Market: 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Central Station at S. Front and G.E. Patterson Downtown. Featuring locally grown and produced food products, including fruits and vegetables, cut flowers, organic produce and meats, baked and prepared foods and more. Visit memphisfarmersmarket.com.
Sunday: Memphis Orchid Society: 2 p.m. at the Memphis Botanic Garden. Special guest speaker, AOS judge John Stubbings of Clown Alley Orchids, presents a program on “The Oncidiums.” The public is invited.
Monday: The Memphis Rose Society: 7 p.m. meeting at the Memphis Botanic Garden. The public is invited.
Aug. 24: Memphis Area Daylily Society 7 p.m. meeting at the Memphis Botanic Garden. Janice Wood presents a program on “Landscaping With Daylilies.” Visitors are welcome.
Wednesdays through Oct. 27: Farmers Market at the Garden: 2-6 p.m. at Memphis Botanic Garden. Variety of goods that are locally grown and produced, including fresh produce, home-baked breads and sweets, honey and more. Open to the public.
Thursday: Memphis Cactus & Succulent Society: Meeting, 7 p.m. at the Memphis Botanic Garden. Mary Helen Butler and Chris Cosby of MBG present “From the Huntington to Memphis-Desert Gardens.” The public is invited. No charge. Plant of the month: Obregonia denegreii. Thursday: Memphis Herb Society: 7 p.m. meeting at the Memphis Botanic Garden. “Unusual Sustainable Herbs” by Debe Hudson. Refreshments 6:30 p.m.
