Garden Design | Plans For Motorcycle Ride, Veterans Garden Design Unveiled

A design for the Jim Shields Memorial Garden was unveiled at the Veterans Pavilion inSt. John’s Tuesday. Shields, a Navy veteran of the Second World War, and founding member ofBranch 56 of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Royal Naval Association, organized visits to the pavilion for more than 50 years. A Support the Troops Ride to benefit the garden will be held Sept. 17 with registration beginning at 9 a.m. and opening ceremonies at 10 a.m. at the Canadian Forces Station drill hall. Riders will leave the Canadian Forces Station in Pleasantville, travel to Holyrood, through Conception Bay South and end the ride at the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre Veterans Pavilion.
