Judge Patrick Brady sentenced David Rogers at Swords District Court last week in order to protect residents in the area from ‘ individuals’ such as him.
Rogers, Priory Hill, Hole In The Wall Road, Donaghmede, with a previous address at The Warren, Malahide, pleaded guilty to a number of trespass and criminal damage offences dating back to last year.
The 39-year-old, who has 97 previous convictions, had been charged with committing trespass with intent at the Island View Hotel, Malahide, on June 3rd, 2010, as well as trespassing with the intent to commit theft.
He was further charged with two counts of trespassing in a manner which could cause fear in another person, at two different homes in the Gainsborough Avenue area of Malahide, on June 4th the same year.
Those charges were due to be at Swords court last, however the case had been delayed after a prosecuting garda took long-term sick leave. Rogers was further charged with entering a building with the intention of committing an offence at a house on Back Road, Malahide, on March 28th last year.
He was also charged with causing criminal damage to a garden lantern ( worth 250), causing 1,412 of damage to the panel of a set of electronic gates and with causing 2,792.10 worth of damage to a garden lawn at the same address.
Relating to the charge at the hotel, Garda Margaret Kelly said gardaí had received a call that a male had been found trespassing in the reception area, going through drawers.
Rogers had been arrested, taken to Malahide Garda Station and charged, while the incident had occurred at around 10.30pm, the court heard.
Sgt Edward Kelly gave evidence relating to the trespassing charges at Gainsborough, where he said the defendant was observed in the garden of one property, where he attempted to open the door of a car.
