Applications are being accepted for the Master Gardener Training Class of 2012. Ohio Master Gardener Interns attend 50 hours of training and provide 50 hours of volunteer service to the community as volunteer educators.

The Master Gardener training program provides intensive training in horticulture to interested gardeners who then volunteer their time assisting with educational programs and activities for county residents through their Ohio State University Extension Office. Master Gardeners provide volunteer service to their communities by conducting clinics; working with youth and the elderly; beautifying the community; developing community or demonstration gardens; and other horticultural activities.

Class topics include: Basic Botany, Soil Science, Fruits and Vegetables, Diagnostics, Herbs, Annual and Perennials, and Pesticide Safety and Use.

You are an excellent candidate for the Master Gardening program if: you want to learn more about plants and gardening; you are eager to participate in practical and intensive training; you enjoy sharing your knowledge with others; and you have time to attend training and serve your community as a volunteer educator.
