Lemonsforlimes.com is a new online platform allowing gardeners within a community to come together to share and trade the bounty of their gardens with others nearby. Home gardeners can now play an important role in support of sustainable living by expanding local food sources in their communities.

The website was developed by Lori Barudoni, a mom from Folsom, California. The idea came to her last year when she was inspired by her little lime tree that gave her more limes than she knew what to do with.
The site is fun, whimsical and a powerful tool for home gardeners with an abundance of produce. Unused fruit that has fallen to the ground year after year can now be picked from the tree and traded for a variety of produce. Because the website is based on zip codes it makes it easy for gardeners or those with fruit trees to find each other. Gardeners can list the produce that they have available to trade and even include a bright yellow happy face if the produce was grown organically. Gardeners can search for produce by zip code, and may also enter a produce item that is not currently available at the website on a “wish list” and receive notification when it becomes available.
Gardeners trade their produce on a point system. The advantage of the point system is that gardeners do not have to redeem their points right away. A gardener can harvest and share tomatoes with other members in August, and use those points to pick up limes from
