Perennials grace our yard and garden year after year with their unique foliage and color. Recommendations from University of Minnesota Extension call for perennials to be divided about every three years. Late summer and fall planting of these divisions allows four to six weeks before the ground freezes for the plants roots to be established. This is particularly important in our northern climate.
