Zion Wildlife park owner wanted more time watch

Receivers for Whangarei’s Zion Wildlife Gardens say theyreceived full co-operation with the game park’s operator when theywent to gain access today.

PricewaterhouseCoopers has been appointed receivers of Zionafter it failed to bring in enough money to keep going following aseries of incidents, including the death of one of its handlers in2009.

Receiver and PwC partner Colin McCloy says the receivers gainedaccess to the park this morning “and have received fullco-operation from Patricia Busch”.

He said they are talking with her and “now exploring a wayforward”.

“I want to reiterate we are committed to doing the best we canfor the welfare of the wildlife and ensure we continue to maintainthe current welfare standards of the animals at Zion WildlifeGardens (In Receivership),” McCloy said in a statement.

Patricia Busch last month expressed fears that the 36 cats atthe park would be put down or relocated.

She said the receivers had no interest in working with thecurrent management of the park and claimed they had refused to sitdown with her and her lawyers to discuss the situation.

Her lawyer Eugene Orlov said at the time he was writing to thePrime Minister asking him to step in and
