Metal Garden | The ‘Art’ Of Staying Dry

Nothing, not even Saturday’s rainy atmosphere, could not stop the sparkle of each artist’s showcase at the 30th annual Lakefront Art Festival in Washington Park.

Sponsored by the Lubeznik Center for the Arts and numerous other local organizations, the Lakefront Art Festival brimmed with more than 100 artists and one-of-a-kind photography, sculpture, fine crafts and wearable art for sale.

Each wing of the festival’s tented walk-through was dotted with colorful art prints, black-and-white photography, live drawing and painting demonstrations, pottery and wood crafts, to name a few items.

Beneath artist Susan Kline’s canvas housing, vivid images of cartoon pets, people and coffee mugs were reminiscent of a cheery, colorful, carefree lifestyle.

Kline’s images of birds singing, dogs happily panting and people laughing were made with a collage technique unique to her work.
