Patio Garden | Littlehamptons Glorious Gardens Rewarded
LITTLEHAMPTON’S glorious gardens and perfect plots have been rewarded in the town council’s annual gardens and allotments competition.
Private and communal gardens, schools and businesses were competing for trophies and prizes which were presented at a ceremony at the New Millennium Chamber in the Manor House.
There was double success for Daphne Mayhead, of Griffin Crescent, Wick, who received the Rob Sal’s Tattoo Studio Cup for best smaller rear garden, and also won the best smaller front garden award.
The Amenity Cup for best communal garden went to Norfolk Gardens East and Eric Shepherd, of Clun Road, won first prize in the larger garden category.
For the sixth year running the Ernest Hayes Cup was awarded to Michael Merridue, of Grand Avenue, Wick, for the best patio garden, and Anthony Gosden, of Climping Park, won the Patels and Petals Cup for best new entrant.
Beautiful displays to brighten the day for commuters and other passengers earned another newcomer, Littlehampton railway station, the Companions’ Challenge Cup for best commercial garden.
