Cricketer Kevin Pietersen launched a furious F-word rant today after he was dropped from the England squad to face Pakistan.

The 30-year-old, who has been a key member of the national side for over five years, was responding to the news he will miss the forthcoming one-day and Twenty20 matches.

Appearing to reply to a message from someone else on Twitter, Pietersen wrote:’Yep.. Done for rest of summer!! Man of the World Cup T20 and droppedfrom the T20 side too.. It’s a f*** up!! Surrey have signed me for l…(sic)’.

There has been continual speculation this summer over where Pietersen will be playing next season after his contract at Hampshire came to an end with the south coast county refusing to give the South African-born batsman match practice.

Pietersen has been a shadow of his former self during the recent series against Bangladesh and the four Test matches against Pakistan.

The flamboyant player has struggled to rediscover the form which saw him win the player of the competition award during England’s recent success in the Twenty20 World Cup in the Caribbean.

Pietersen flew home to be with his wife Jessica for the birth of their first child during the tournament but returned to help guide England to victory in the final against Australia.

The 30-year-old has made only 232 runs in nine Test innings against Bangladesh and Pakistan, with England selectors and fans becoming increasingly worried about his form heading into the eagerly-awaited Ashes series in Australia this winter.
