Sports broadcasting from India has made a quantum jump in the last few years. The sports programs, their coverage, and quality of broadcasting have undergone a sea change thanks to the organization of mega events, such as the Commonwealth Games, the ICC Cricket World Cup, and the popular Indian Premier League, and rise of sports stars in the country. While the sports enthusiasts can watch these mega events on official DD channels and its dedicated sports arm DD Sports, there are a range of private channels offering wide coverage of sports events.

Widest Coverage of Indian Sports by DD Channels

The bouquet of DD channels, owned by the public broadcaster Doordarshan, offers the widest coverage of sports, including cricket matches, in India. All the private broadcasters covering cricket, football, tennis, hockey, and other sports events in India are obliged under the law to share their feeds with DD channels. The wide network and experience in sports coverage also make DD channels the number one sports broadcaster in the country.

DD National, the most viewed of the DD channels, offers live coverage of important sports events in the country. It has tie ups with major private sports channels in India, such as, ESPN, Star Cricket, Ten Sports, and Neo Cricket, for broadcasting of major events. Though the channel has several national obligations, still it covers all major sports events live in India. It even broadcasts major events from abroad, such as ICC Cricket World Cup, ICC Champions Trophy, Asian Games, Hockey World Cup, and such other sports events that generate considerable viewer interest in India.

DD channels offer cost effective viewing of live sports and cricket matches from India. These are free to air channel and backed by the national government. They do not put any extra burden on providers offering IPTV, Internet TV, and cable services. DD channels are available with every service provider and around the world. The exclusive coverage of sports in India also make these channels the best platform to watch the 2011 ICC World Cup Cricket being hosted in India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.

DD Sports Offers 24-Hour Sports Coverage in India

The national broadcaster inaugurated DD Sports in 1998 as its dedicated sports arm. It is entrusted with the duty of 24 hour broadcasting of sports in India. DD Sports offers a host of programs, such as live telecast of games, deferred live, repeat telecasts, match analysis, and talk shows on major sports, such as cricket, football, and hockey. DD Sports was the official broadcaster of the 19th Commonwealth Games and has the exclusive right to telecast 34th National Games currently in progress.

The wide variety of programs on DD Sports also includes the special coverage of emerging sports in India. It is the only sports channel to telecast programs on boxing in India, after Indian boxers own several gold medals in the recent world events. DD Sports also offers an opportunity view archives on past Olympics, golden generation of national hockey, and ethnic sports in India.

IPTV Augments Live Sports Telecast on DD Channels

The advent of IPTV and Internet TV has made watching live telecast of cricket matches on DD channels a completely new experience. You can watch live cricket matches from India on DD channels without having to pay hefty subscription fees that private channels impose. Digital features, better sound, interactive features, and a host of advantages on IPTV provide viewers better broadcasting quality and home theater experience while watching live sports from India at least possible cost.

The recent embarrassing performances by the West Indies Cricket team at home during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 West Indies and the two match knock out of the Twenty 20 World cup held in South Africa highlights the lack of preparation the team undergo for major tournaments.

The evidence is there to show that whenever the West Indies has done well in recent times it has been due to preparation. Often the preparation has been inadvertently trust on the regional governing body by circumstances beyond their control.

In 2004 when the West Indies won the ICC Champions Trophy in England the team had adequate preparation due to the International fixtures. The team had already spend a couple months in England competing in the Nat West Trophy, a triangular tournament with host England and New Zealand and a One Day and a Test series with England.

It was amazing to hear the experts’ claim that the turn around in the team’s performance was due to the devastation of the islands by hurricane Ivan. Even though this claim might have some merit it is this writer’s view that the factor, which played the biggest role, was having the core of the team together for an extended period of time.

Again in 2006 when the West Indies reached the finals of the ICC Champions Trophy held in India the team was together for an extended period again due to ICC schedule. The out of place scheduling of the DLF Cup in Malaysia and the stipulation by the ICC which made the West Indies have to qualify because of their low One Day ranking meant that the team was on the sub-continent approximately 6 weeks before the tournament bowled off.

And quiet recently when the West Indies won the One-Day series against England under the captaincy of Chris Gayle this win came at the end of a six-week tour of that country. Again all the emphasis was place on Gayle’s captaincy with little regard for the preparation the core of the team would have had acclimatizing during the earlier part of the tour.

In a region where cricket can best be describe as a religion fans expect current players to live up to the high standards set by previous teams, it is indeed baffling why team preparation is held with little regard. Maybe it stems from the view that the West Indian is a natural cricketer a view I believe that was etch into the subconscious of West Indies Cricket administrators, players and fans during the dominance of the eighties.

However times have change and with this change came the break down of the informal cricket structure, which was largely responsible for the glory days of West Indies cricket. It is Therefore of up most importance that the message is gotten across to the administrators and the wider cricket public at large that international sport needs a professional approach.

Cricket is still a team sport and even though a brilliant individual performance may win a match often it is not enough on the international circuit. The West Indies unlike other international cricket teams comprises islands separated by water. It is not enough for players to meet at the Grantley Adams international airport on their way to a tournament with little are no preparation.

It is also inadequate in this era for the team to return to the Caribbean after a tour and disband at the airport only with instructions to follow individual training routines. Professional teams train for competition as a unit this allows members to better understand their roles and how their roles tie in with the over all team effort.

Now that the team and the region has been embarrassed in two of the International Cricket Council’s major tournaments due to a lack of adequate preparation. It is important that new West Indies Cricket Board President Julian Hunte and his board recognize that numerous changes must take place, if the regional team has a chance when competing on the International stage.

Australia vs Pakistan ICC world cup Twenty 20 Live Streaming : In Today’s Match, Australia is facing against Pakistan on May 2nd, 2010.

Time : 23:00 PM(IST).
Match Venue :Beausejour Cricket Ground,Gros Islet, St Lucia.

In yesterday match, Pakistan has won the match with 21 runs at the Beausejour Stadium on Saturday. In last year’s World Twenty20 final, they are a much changed side from the one that beat Sri Lanka at Lord’s.

Australia have struggled with getting speedy starts in twenty over cricket and that’s where they will look to David Warner. The man who played international cricket before he’d even played a first class match will be remembered for his bruising century for the Daredevils in the IPL and will be relied upon to perform as he did there. Warner has an international T20 strike rate of 155.32. He needs to get stuck in quickly, if Australia want a better start.

In Australia, Afridi received a two-match Twenty20 ban for ball-tampering, caused by bizarrely chewing on the ball, in a one-day international in Perth.

Today’s match is very important match for them.

Fears of an Australian Indian confrontation were reignited again last month after John Howard’s bid for Vice President of International Cricket Council, as an Oceania candidate, got rejected. Had John Howard been elected he would have become the President of ICC after two years, when the current President and a powerful Indian cabinet minister Sharad Pawar steps down. However the controversy did not snowball into a media and a diplomatic tug of war, which partly showed how much John Howard is disliked these days even in Australia.

Australian cricket board erred in its judgment by nominating Howard in the first place over NZ Cricket chairman Sir John Anderson who should have been the first choice as the Australia-NZ nomination for ICC. Howard’s criticism of Sri Lankan spinner Murali was too harsh. Prime Ministers in Asian countries don’t go about berating sports persons of other countries. The image of John Howard using tough language after Indian nuclear tests is more etched in Indian minds than John Howard’s decision to sell Uranium to India. Remember John Howard’s treatment of Indian doctor Mohd Haneef to get cheap votes. Howard also adopted an extreme hard line on Zimbabwe. No wonder opposition to John Howard was overwhelming and came from 6 cricketing nations and not just India. His political past would have never allowed him to be consensual candidate. There are just 10 countries who are qualified to play test cricket and a split amongst them would be disastrous for the future of the game.

John Howard showed he is a thick skinned politician when he travelled secretly to Zimbabwe to garner votes for his ICC nomination, forgetting that he had been canvassing against Zimbabwe for most of his political life.

The issue has still not died down and Howard’s refusal to quit has muddied the waters. It’s like saying John Howard wants to get reelected from Bennelong in the coming elections after he lost the last elections. Due to his insistence to hold on to the job, he will block chances of other suitable candidates for the post. Holding on his job and refusing to see the tide of current is a trait that comes naturally to John Howard. Remember he refused to vacate the job for his Deputy till he got trashed in the elections and even got defeated in his own seat. Howard’s reluctance to withdraw his candidature for ICC Post is ridiculous. The more he stays put the more harm he does to cricket.

Critics have been blaming India and other countries for blocking Howard’s nomination. The question we need to ask is …What if Zimbabwe proposes Robert Mugabe as President of ICC, when it is their turn? Would he be acceptable to Australia? It is like Sheikh Taj Hilaly being proposed as Mufti of Australia. His people have a right to nominate him but he is not going to be accepted by the majority. Australia and New Zealand have a right but the candidate has to be acceptable and non controversial.

It is time for Cricket Australia to propose a new candidate for ICC top job. Australia has scores of better candidates to represent us in ICC and we need to put them forward instead.

Remember the hue and cry in the Indian media against Australia at the height of violence against Indian students in Australia last year. The appointment of Peter Varghese as Australian High Commissioner to India has helped in a big way and taken the edge out of the arguments of those people who said Australia was a racist nation. It was clear if Australia was a racist society it would not have been possible for a person of Indian descent to represent Australia in such a high position. There has been a significant reduction in the rhetoric and anger of Indian criticism of Australia since his appointment.

It is now time to duplicate the Peter Varghese diplomatic strategy in cricket. Dr Harry Harinath is a poster boy of the Australian Indian community and is one of the best examples of the professional acumen which people of Indian origin bring to the Australian community.He landed into Australia with 40 cents in 1971 and was recently awarded an Order of Australia medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours and recognised for his services to cricket and the community. Harry Harinath is currently heading NSW Cricket Board and has a lot of administrative experience in cricket both at the State and the National Level. He brings with him superb administrative skills and should be the new choice for Australia and New Zealand for ICC top job. He will be acceptable to all and there is every chance that powerful Asian cricket boards will back him for the post, thereby putting Australia again as powerful cricketing entity.

This is also a lesson to all politicians to aim to build a global image for themselves rather than pander to lowest elements in the society and raise rhetoric. This is something that Kevin Rudd understood but did not have time to implement. Think of it if Kevin Rudd would have been the appointee of Cricket Australia for ICC, he would have won hands down. He will win even today.

ICL is the hot issue in cricket world during last year, When ICL starts twenty20 cricket tournament without permission of BCCI and ICC. In this response BCCI banned the ICL players for lifetime from all kinds of authorized cricket. Ultimately, this decision given by ICC because, they don’t want to irritate BCCI. And any other board cannot overtake BCCI due to their commercial needs with India. India is not suffered by ICL, but other countries suffered. Mainly Pakistan, their ICL team supposed stronger than Pakistan national cricket team. No one dares to say against BCCI. But now I want to express you how can ICL challenges BCCI & ICC.
ICL cricketers are banned from all kinds of authorized cricket. So they play only ICL league just for 3or 4 months. Rest of the year they are totally free. In contrast with authorized cricketers, they busy with international test series, one day series and their home cricket. So if ICL can use their cricketers properly they can do a revolution on cricket.
India is the main market of all kinds of cricket. And Indians are spread around the world. ICL can arrange twenty20 cricket tournament in America or Europe, where cricket not played regularly. Twenty20 form of cricket is very much attractive than traditional test and ODI cricket. It is a short time entertainment which desires the American and Europians. And they would introduce with the non resident Indians. So I think it’s a very potential field of twenty20 cricket and thus cricket would be spread among the world. There is no risk of success, because TV rights money would cover the total cost if there spectators refused to see cricket in field. ICL has potential to arrange four tournaments in four different venue of the world. The venues can be USA, Canada, Germany, spain and in asia united arab emirates.
These places have very good chance to be potential markets of future cricket. But authorized cricket organizers couldn’t arrange amusing cricket here due to busy schedule of all test playing countries. So ICL has a very good chance to spread cricket in this region because their cricketers have enough time to play.
If this process succed, cricket would not be under control of ICC and BCCI. An alternative cricket platform will build. Would it good for ICC & BCCI? But I think cricket would not under in any threat because cricket is not the copyrighted property of BCCI.
Would ICL authorities and BCCI think over it?

Mr Peter Rebock said that they are Wild Dogs. Is it true? World cricket fans have not only to decide but also to contribute their views on the future course of actions by International Cricket Control (ICC) and various countries Cricket Boards. The so-called Australian Cricketers supremacy in the game and their means to gain the first place, both need review.

I will debate an issue of the Australian and Gori Chamri (White Skinned) countries which have not only followed the dual standards, but also had repeatedly exhibited a biased approach towards Gori Chamri European (GCE) and Black Chamri Asians (BCA) during various matches. Is it proper? Of course, yes to some extent. If the readers agree with the views what I said, I feel to applause; or else pardon Australian’s for being inharmonic. Infact, I would say that Australians have been the worst players ever since Ponting assumed captaincy, The follow what I call Diplomacy of Dirty Cricket Abhorrence (DoDCA).

Firstly, at the very first instance I would like to discuss Muthaia Murlidharan of Sri Lanka to whom the Australians have made world famous as a Chucker. It was only Australian cricketer’s sick minded gimmick to get their player at top scalping highest wickets. Despite of ICC clearance the Australian Cricketers were determined to get Murlidharan discarded. What a nonsense way of getting first place. I believe that the Australian Cricketers, who were afraid of playing magical spin of Murli, had tried to get him redundant as Chucker. What a shameful way of fame to gain first position. They have again played the same DoDCA with Harbhajan of India Cricket Team (ICT) and another Pakistani player. So far, all such gimmicks have given boost to High headed Australian Cricketers (HAC) which ultimately ended on 26 December 2007 when entire ICT was bowled out two create history for HAC through DoDCA. The HAC have time and again exhibited the bad sporting Spirit through;

One; un-player like conduct both on and off the fields;

Two; unsporting conduct at field;

Three; repeatedly exhibited Dirty Body Language Gestures (DBLG) on field;

Four; Trying to influence umpires through Nasty Visual Acts (NVA);

Five; repeated exhibited foul mouthed behavior when bowlers are hammered or batsmen are given out;

Five; telling lies to umpire which was clearly evident when Ponting appealed for a grounded catch for Indians at Sydney; and

Six; the most important is their Bigheaded, Arrogant and Egoistic behavior.

Secondly, I extend my heartiest felicitations to ICT and all the people who had condemned the bad Sporting Sprit of Game (SSG) exhibited by the present bunch of Cocky Offender Cricketers of Australia nick named COCA. How does it matters to a common man whether any player performs or not, but certainly it matters to most of the Indian Cricket Fans (ICF) and the World Cricket Fans (WCF) when their favorite players do not performs. Ponting had not only shamed the Gentlemen game but also shamed his own conduct and position as a gentlemen player. So far his DBLG have always exhibited bad facial and hand signs to visiting teams. His most soiled and condemnable act was when he nearly kicked out Mr Sharad Powar, the President of Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) before a photo session.

Thirdly, I would also debate about the role of umpires, their bad decisions and its effect on a Cricket Series. The six wrong decisions in one inning cannot be by errors or default but it is really planned. I would like to educate WCF as to:

1)How can an umpire give all six wrong decisions against ICT and not even a single against Australian players?

2)How could umpire not see a grounded ball catch?

3)Why ICC did not cancel the Sydney Test which made HAC sixteenth consecutive win through Proxy Umpires Deceitful Actions (PUDA)?

4)Why Ponting is not being penalized for willful lies for a grounded catch?

Some of my readers have said that the articles are deeply analytical which provide in-depth assertions about commitment of subject. I feel that:

A)ICT team should withdraw from Australia for the good of game;

B)BCCI should demand action against Ponting;

C)Australian Cricket Board should remove Ponting for cause shame to game;

D)Australian must play Cricket as a gentlemen Game;

E)Punish all HAC for bad DBLG and NVA.

At last I would suggest that India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh and other
African cricket playing countries to should ICC headquarters to Asia and remove the White hegemony forever. When most of the revenue is generated from Asian countries only, then why should ICC be dominated by whites if at all there is a sense of apartheid amongst White Skinned Europeans (WSE).
